Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Update:  So, been one heck of a week, July 15th start, and learning a ton and processing a ton of new information. The U of M Hospital has accomplished more in 5 days, then I knew since end of March. The four new things as I categorize them, are the following:

First - The biopsy revealed I do have Pancreatic Cancer. Yes, this was not what we wanted to hear; however, this is what we wanted to know. I’m not going to sugarcoat it, but this is a very serious issue. This leads to the next news.

Second - everyone wants a stage and it is uncertain of the depth of the stage until Chemo and radiology starts. It’s relative, but at this stage, the mass cannot be removed surgically. The chemo will dictate the path. I’m ready to battle no matter what.

Third - yes, Chemo/radiology starts soon and is six months in length. July 21st, I meet my Oncologist. An amazing care team at the University of Minnesota Hospital is my partner in beating this cancer. I am blessed to have them on my side, with my family and friends.

Fourth - a GI Doctor was able to run an innovative technique and through my 4th Endoscopy in three weeks he has connected my stomach to my small intestine with a stent, which means…drum roll please… I can EAT. This was done non-surgically. Yes, they’re baby steps in starting with fluids and eating, but food anyway.

Hope you all have a blessed day. We will need all the hugs, love, and support to handle what is ahead. I will keep sharing what I know as I move forward. FYI- Please share any inspirational stories you have on beating cancer. I would appreciate this. I am now at home with the family and will update here with event invites. I will also share any new information.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Kevin Krier

We are 8 days away from heading to Houston going to MD Anderson. I had my chemo this past Tuesday and due to the trip will have one month off. It’s only a three day trip to Houston with the screening for the clinical trial. I feel very grateful for the opportunity as this gives us hope! I did pass the one year mark since getting sick as well (March 25th), so very appreciative of the time with the family and friends. My care teams at the U  has been phenomenal as well.

I am feeling pretty good lately; however, I learned this week not to push it. I was working with Kole on getting our convertible out of storage and pushed it a little with bending and stretching. A few hours later I was in pretty good pain in my shoulder. Now, a few days later I’m feeling much better, Whew!!

The end of school year is very busy for Kole and Carly, yet they are both doing well. Cathy is hanging in there. She has been amazing in my care and I can’t thank her enough.

Oh, a final thank you to my neighbor and friend Wade for getting me to chemo. This has been so incredibly helpful!

Thank you everyone for the Love, Support, and prayers!!!!

Kevin
