Peggy’s Story

Site created on May 5, 2024

Welcome to my CaringBridge website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.
Hi all! Just wanted you to know what’s happening in my strangely bizarre life! I’ve been in United hospital since April 18th! Have had a myriad of symptoms that had the Drs “flummoxed”! Small bowel obstruction, large amount of abdominal ascites, pulmonary embolism, pleural edema , thickening of omentum and more.
For 2 weeks the diagnosis they were working under was ovarian or peritoneal (abdominal wall lining) cancer as those can cause all the mix of symptoms. Needless to say I had a lot of processing to do!
Three days ago the last of a few tests came back - good news, bad news! Good news is I DON’T have ovarian/pertonitoneal cancer; bad news I still have cancer but but it’s B cell lymphoma. Much better outcomes than ovarian!!
Heavy duty chemo starts today! They are keeping me here a while longer yet. Maybe through this week.
Chemo will be every 3 weeks for 18 weeks. (So far anyway - things change quickly and frequently!)
Silver linings- I’ve been here in the oncology department for so long that I’ve gotten to know most of the staff, which is very comforting. I also have one of the nicest big rooms in the hospital!,
Additionally, I’ll have a summer where I won’t have to worry about washing, coloring or styling my hair! Lol
Attitude is key so I’ve kept mine upbeat and positive and want to be surrounded by the same!! It’ll be rough, but doable with faith and a great support system!!
I’ll be spending a lot of time our nice, private courtyard - got some new comfy furniture and getting an awning! Will be pretty much will be stuck home through September!
If you’re in the neighborhood- text me to see how I feel, and perhaps we can visit in the courtyard!

Hugs!

I’m so thankful to be back home again! Hopefully I’ll stay here now!!
Good thing I got my hair cut when I did as it started falling out (yikes!) today!! Can’t imagine the mess I would have if it was still long! My next chemo is next Wednesday the 29th. Was hoping the hair loss would wait until after that one but at least I know the first chemo is doing its work! Have another trip to United on Friday so they can insert a port where the chemo will be infused through.
I’m going to do some walking and sitting outside to enjoy the nice weather predicted here for Memorial weekend! Hope you all enjoy the weekend and take time to remember those who are no longer with us!
