The surgery was successful. According to the surgeon, it was "the best possible outcome for her situation." He performed an intestinal anastomosis end to end procedure (see picture). The first step of recovery involves praying for the connection between the colon and bowel to heal without any leakage.
She is currently in post-op and is conscious. However, her blood pressure is slightly high, so the medical team wants to bring it down before transferring her back to her room.
