Here’s the summary of Paul’s weekly meeting…..
MD doc- Had low blood pressure off and on this week so adjusted meds again and seem to be working. Paul complained of pain in his knee and the X-ray showed “loose bodies” so he’ll be getting an MRI
PT- transfers are getting better. He’s using less assistance and trusting his bad side more. He’s walking about 100ft with a crutch and brace plus assistance. They had more plans for Paul this week but they had to change because of the low blood pressure. They plan on trying stairs next.
OT- thinks he’s doing an exceptional job. Lots of progress. There was a shirt laying on the bed and the OT person had to step out for a min and Paul managed to get the shirt on while she was out of the room.
ST- still having soft, bite sized food and thick liquids. She wants to move Paul to the next step up. Language is improving. When the ST points at a picture and Paul needs to name it he used to get 20% right and now he’s 50%. My own note on this for people who haven’t had a chance to talk with Paul… in my experience, he knows what the picture is, he just can’t get the word out. Next steps for speech is to start introducing tech to try and help with language skills.
