Patricia Ann Steed
On Wednesday, August 31,
2022, loving wife and
mother Patricia Steed
passed away at the age of 57.
Pat was born on March 10,
1965 in Georgetown, Ohio to
Ronald and Margaret (nee
Allen) Steed. She earned her
degree in Sociology at Ohio
University in 1987 and a
master’s also in Sociology in
1989. As a student at OU,
she met Mick Metz and they
were married on August 11, 1990. In 1999, they moved to Tallahassee, Florida where
they raised their three sons, John, David, and Edward, and daughter, Charlotte. Pat
worked in the education field her whole life, and her greatest passion was teaching. She
spent the last 10 years of her life teaching social studies at Florida State University
Schools, where all four of her children attended. Pat had a great penchant for coffee and
chocolate, and spent much of her free time gardening, even earning her Master
Gardener title through the Leon County program. She was a lover of animals, becoming
a vegetarian at age 15 and rescued many cats and dogs over the years. Pat was known for
her quick wit, great humor, and the devotion she put into the care of others, whether it
be her friends, family, or many adoring students whose lives she touched through her
teaching. Pat was preceded in death by her father, Ronald. She is survived by her
mother, Margaret, her husband Mick, her four children John, David, Edward, and
Charlotte, her grandson Henry, her brother Robert, and several nephews and a niece.
There will be a private reception for family and close friends at the family’s home in
Greenville, FL on Sunday, September 4th.
