Yesterday I was supposed to have my third infusion of PT-112, three weeks in a row.  After meeting with the research team at NIH in Bethesda, they decided to skip this particular infusion since I had already started having some neuropathy issues with the treatment.  It was only about 2 to 3 hours where I experienced the pain just two days prior.

This delay may end up being to my advantage. Had they gone ahead with the infusion and the neuropathy gotten worse, then I'd have to wait several weeks before starting up on treatment again.  By giving some time for my body to heal with its nerves, then that can potentially spare me this again.  Another simultaneous study of PT-112 in advanced prostate cancer has shown that giving more time between treatments helps reduce the neuropathy, the theory being because it gives a chance for the body to heal.  The PT-112 study for thymic carcinoma is trying to update its protocol to allow for this.  So in essence, this extra break is in a way something they are trying to change it to anyway.  For whatever reason, this PT-112 treatment is hitting me harder than the other participants. This may be a good thing as my immune system is obviously being impacted.  So I continue to pray that the LORD is merciful in allowing this to be effective.

As a result of this decision, my next treatment is slated for May 29, two weeks from yesterday. Also, I will be fairly well for the weekend ahead in which I look forward to honoring Prof. Mark Kranz with his retirement from ILC and also having our confirmation here at Grace in Fridley.

So that leaves me now with a tough decision for my 40th class reunion from Reardan High which is June 1.  So many of my classmates have shown incredible support that I've wanted to be there in person.  However, I realize it's only a few days after my next infusion which may mean I'm not feeling the best.  I'm praying the LORD to lead me as He has done so faithfully.
