Journal
Okay, Nate Vandeberg here. So last Monday (the 13th) I met with my hematologist. He had looked at the results of my latest blood draw and I remain cancer-free! Alleluia! I have already completed a cardio rehab program too. I feel pretty great and have my normal stamina back.
I just have to say that I truly appreciate everyone who has prayed for me, offered encouragement, read or posted on my Caring Bridge, visited me, called me, gave communion, etc. This journey has had many highs and lows. All of you have inspired me to stay in the fight. I will never forget the hope everyone has helped me find.
Jenny: I could not ask for a better wing-mate in all of this. You stuck around during this journey even though you had barely started dating me. Love is a choice.
Paris and Gabie: You are not forgotten. You both have inspired me to take care of my health and push on—no matter the odds. I hope and pray that my gift of being healed can buy the time to be there for you. We will be reunited again.
One last thing: look up Saint Peregrine Laziosi. He’s a saint who was born in the late 1200s in Forli, Italy. Saint Peregrine is the patron saint of those suffering from cancer, aids and other life-threatening illnesses. St. Peregrine’s intercession and faith was a true inspiration during this lymphoma journey. Saint Peregrine and the centurion from Matthew 8 taught me what truefaith looks like.
