Journal entry by Jenny Hanes —
I arrived in Mesa yesterday, Preston picked me up from the airport to spend a few days with the kids before her surgery. Pedro called me as soon as I got home and told me what they said in rounds. The surgeon isn't sure now if surgery is the best option, after letting us believe she was intubated all week for that very reason. She has excess air in her belly, so they've held feeds for two days and of course she was uncomfortable yesterday because she's hungry and still on the ventilator when she doesn't need to be. We've been patient all week with their decisions but have grown tired of not knowing a plan. It's been absolute hell watching our daughter be forced to lay still because of that tube. Everything's still unknown and it doesn't feel good. Thanks for your continued support and prayers!
