Journal

Greetings:  This journal entry is my last. Actually, today marks exactly one year since Nancy was diagnosed with AML. It has been a year-long marathon of hospital stays, emergency room visits, transfusions and medical appointments in both San Diego and LA. We accumulated over 4500 highway miles in 2021 traveling to all the above.

Nancy is now permitted to attend church, go out to restaurants, work in her garden (with a few limitations), attend concerts and little league games (our grandkids’) go to movies, etc. No mosh pits, or large gatherings like Padre games or dances. We celebrated Easter with our entire family including in-laws and more….unmasked.

She continues to take a veritable rainbow of anti-viral and anti-rejection medications (about 20 pills per day) so she is not totally out of the woods. And she continues to receive what most would consider childhood vaccines like DPT, Tdap, Hepatitis A and B, polio, and more through December ‘22. But, she is full of energy, assuming most of the activities she enjoyed before she was ill.
We are both thankful for each and every day and face our future together with renewed hope. We are again planning future trips. We have, with our kids and grandkids, already rented a house on Bass Lake near Yosemite for a week in June.  Life is good.

Caringbridge has been a useful tool keeping  friends and family updated regarding Nancy’s condition. We are grateful for the media options now available to maintain contact. It truly is a brave new world.
Good Bye and God bless,
