I have great news to share...I’m cancer free and done with treatment!!!

Wow does it feels good to say that.  It’s been a long 18 months. I look back on my treatment and I honestly don’t know how I did it.  There were so many days that I prayed the whole day to just be able to make it the next minute.  I’m so thankful for my work family and the support I have received as well as all the support I got from my family and friends.

What are my next steps? Well in October I see my surgeon and schedule to have my port out.  I’ll see my oncologist every 3 months as well as have labs every 3 months.  I’ll have echocardiograms every 6 months.  I’ll be watched still which gives me peace of mind.

I'm still recovering from everything.  I get tired pretty easily and I have no immune system. I still have lots of joint pain that I deal with.  I try to stay away from the pain pills and I use CBD.

My hair has officially been growing back for a year.  It’s not as thick as it was and it’s very curly. It’s a love hate relationship.  To me the curls represent cancer and all that I went through. The loss of my life the way it was.  But I’m lucky to have my hair and my life.  Also I look like both my grandmas now.  Also love/hate...I mean I’m only 45. I don’t want to look like a 60yr old grandma. Lol...

I like to think of a popular movie quote as what my encouragement was like while fighting cancer:

"We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!

We're going to live on!

We're going to survive!"

So today is my Independence Day of sorts. And I will live on!!

Thank you everyone!!
