Well, another round of chemo has come and gone, and we are already getting ready to go back this coming Tuesday! The last round of chemo and doctor appointments were May 22-May 24. The lab work was okay, and all his numbers were in the normal range or at least what they consider okay to do chemo still. However, there are a few numbers that have been getting lower each time he has gone over the past few treatments. Those numbers need to stay within a range in order to do chemo. If they fall to low, they will delay chemo by a week to give his body a little more time to recover. The goal right now is to make it to the next set of scans without having to delay treatment. He will have chemo this coming week and then again June 19-20th. He will also have scans done at that time. Depending on what the scans say it will determine his new course of treatment.  After the scans he will have chemo, but then they may suggest he take a break for one week and go two weeks between chemo instead of just one. This will give his body time to recover. Of course, the results of the scan could change the plan, but for now the goal is to make it to the scans without having to delay chemo.
Mike has been able to get outside and do so many things! He enjoys being outside and getting things done. He has quite the list of things to do and works on it every day. He has okay days, not so okay days, and bad days. He keeps working through it as long as he can and does as much as he can when he can. He is so strong and is fighting so hard. He tends to bruise easy and bleed a bit more than usual with a small cut. It seems the chemo drugs are making his skin thinner and easier to cut. Every time he goes outside, he comes in with a new cut or bruise on himself. I have warned him that I will wrap him in bubble wrap if he keeps it up!
Kids are done with school and so am I! Oh, what a relief it is to be done with school! I was falling behind in one class and at risk for not passing it, but the instructor was so kind as to give me some extra time to get the work done. I do appreciate that! It has been difficult trying to keep up with everything and that really helped! I turned in my last assignment on Friday, so I am really done with school now!
Thank so for the prayers, meals, encouragement, and acts of kindness. It does not go unnoticed, and we appreciate it and are grateful for everything!
