Happy Mother's Day and sorry for not posting in a couple of weeks.

Last week was pretty uneventful for Dad, he had radiation Monday - Friday and felt pretty good, just some fatigue which has been normal.

This week was a big one for him.  He had Chemo Monday-Wednesday, him and mom get up at 4am to get to Mayo by 7am for Chemo and then he was thankfully able to check into Radiation early (he was originally scheduled at 4:15pm).  This was his fourth and final round of Chemo for the time being.  This is a big thing to celebrate.  😀  Thursday the fatigue from chemo started to show up and Amanda went with to Radiation and Dad also received another Neulasta injection to help with his immune system.  Friday fatigue reared it's ugly head and Dad was wiped out and it was an emotional day.  For the first time in this journey Dad had a breakdown and we all let him know that it was ok and to get it out, he's been so strong during this time and it's ok to have a day were you are just angry and frustrated and wanting to be done with it all.  Amanda drove to Rochester that day and Dad saw his Radiation Oncologist and had Radiation.

He is unfortunately starting to get more symptoms from the treatment and eating has become a challenge again.  It seems his esophagus is inflamed and certain foods are hard to go down, he has a burning sensation and some acid reflux issues, fatigue and insomnia (sucks to have fatigue and insomnia at the same time).

Saturday was Bus races at my dad's home away from home - Cedar Lake Speedway, so we headed out there as a family.  This was the medicine my dad needed.  He got to see our racing family and it brought tears to his eyes and a huge smile to his face.  ❤️

This coming week Dad has his five days of radiation, nutritionist appointment and radiation doctor.  The countdown is on as he only has SEVEN more days of driving down to Rochester and back.  May 21st is the big day were he will have his last radiation treatment.

After that he will have a month off and then make a trip down for 3 days of meetings, testing, scans and appointments to see where he is at and what the next steps are.

Again we want to thank you all for you continued prayers, thoughts and good vibes you have sent our way, keep them coming if you can as I know they are helping and Dad needs all the help to get him through these last seven days.

Love,

Mike and Family
