I just received this update from Patty:
Mike is doing fairly well today. They decided to start him on a Bumex drip, which is a diuretic that will get more fluid off of his lungs. They were giving him scheduled Lasix injections IV before, but they want to do a constant drip. He is still on the drip that helps regulate his heart rhythm, too.
Once they get most of the fluid out of his lungs and his cardiac status is more stable, they plan to start to gradually wean him off the ventilator, but that won’t be until at the very earliest tomorrow and probably next week. The staff here seem on top of things, so that is reassuring.
