Journal entry by Michael Nastri —
Quick post I know it’s been a week just wanted to check in. I’ve completed radiation and just about done with chemo. Still waiting on approval for insurance for another immuno drug. It’s a 200k pill, that isn’t typically used for leukemia but the docs think it could really work well with the chemo to slow things. Hoping to get that approval this week, I’m told it shouldn’t be a problem, just takes time for these things.
Also still waiting on more info on the Car T therapy clinical trial. The wheels are in motion but there is really only another spot or two left and a few people in my exact position are all trying to be sick enough but just healthy enough to get this spot. Once one person gets it the next person has 4 weeks to wait for safety reasons to see how the last person did. It’s a crazy situation and I feel for all those few others in this boat. I’m ready to start , I hope they’ll have me soon.
Also sadly all the cancer is back in my bone marrow, and blast cells in my blood are really high. But the Car T theoretically can target this no matter where it’s spread, so there is hope.
finally, my tumor seems to have really shrunk due to radiation and steroids at least it feels that way. Swelling way down and I feel the best I have in 9 months getting so much done, great energy, and making the most out of this time.
love to everyone , just wanted to say hello and I’m still here. Call or text any time.
