Journal

I have graduated to 12 week scans so I have not journaled since February.  It was strange having so much time in between scans, I will have to get used to this.  I had a CT on May 1st (one week ago today) and finally received results via MyChart today.   It was a long week of waiting as radiology has been back logged and it's taking extra time to publish results.  I am so happy that there are no new lesions.  That .3 cm is still hanging out on my lung but it has not grown.  All of the liver lesions (believed to be benign) are unchanged. All of this is great news, God is good!

About six weeks ago, I was at my regular 4 week check up to refill my trial drug and get my EKG.  I was complaining to Dr. Nelson about how crappy and down I felt all winter.  I was fatigued (falling asleep at odd times), gaining weight, headaches, neuropathy and experiencing joint pain.  She decided to run a couple more blood tests and low and behold my thyroid had stopped working.  My TSH was 28 and I am hypothyroid.  She started me on Synthroid and titrated up 2 weeks ago.  I'm hoping to be on the correct therapeutic dose in a month or so.  I am hopeful it will start feeling better, I'm noticing some slow improvements.  I had been contributing  all of those symptoms to side effects from my trial drug.  Luckily, most of them are not!

Rose has been taking me to most of my appointments and scans  at Froedert over the last few months since her schedule was flexible, but that is coming to an end.  She will already be at the Cancer  Center on my appointment days because she has accepted a position as an Occupational Therapist for Froedert  2.5 days a week, specializing in lymphedema (mainly breast cancer and head/neck cancers). This will be in addition to her job with Lad Lake as an OT.  I keep telling Randy and the kids that I can handle these appointments by myself but they insist on going.  I am grateful to have the company and sounding board.

I think I covered all the news as far as my health is concerned.  Thank you for reading.  Our love to all!

Love,

Mercedes
