Hey everyone!
Quick update on my pet scan results.
The good news - Colon (2.3 cm) and liver (1.9 cm) staying stable and have not grown. Peritoneum appears to be rapidly healing from three months ago and it was stated that I now have "decreased capsular implants, but they are not sizing the "tumor" anymore meaning it is breaking up and dying off.
The "meh" news - Bile ducts are more inflamed and likely acting against the radiation treatment from Feb/March overall. My blood markers also showed a massive spike in liver enzymes (AST, ALT, Bilirubin) and a lowering of some immune markers, which would indicate radiation treatment is likely causing the reaction. I could not get chemo/immuno treatment today because of this. In addition, some of the bodily symptoms I have been experiencing have been rough, especially the last few days. I have felt the following - VERY full with no appetite (I have been telling people it feels like I left the Golden Corral buffet where the food made me sick and I'm overly full), abdominal pain that fluctuates, complete exhaustion, and tiredness. So today at Mayo, they gave me a steroid and hydration, along with some steroids to take with me in case I need to calm things down on my trip this Friday.
Now, of course, all of the "meh" news is kind of hilarious considering I leave for Europe on my birthday this Friday. I have been fine more or less since last summer and then BOOM - bad symptoms and side effects and the scan looked good! I would be lying if I didn't say I was a bit defeated lately and certainly underestimated the side effects of radiation treatment. It's wild that it took me about a month to feel something other than just being tired. Still, I try to find the bright side of this news and think that it's an important part of the process overall and that I basically detonated an atomic bomb and the pieces are being picked up - the bad guys and good guys were impacted. I know my body will heal, so it's time to double down on a nice liver-friendly diet with a lot of herbs like dandelion, holy basil, turmeric, milk thistle, methylene blue, artichoke, and more.
So...... I've been resting, forcefully! Something I have a very troublesome time doing, but it's felt pretty great. I've also made it a practice to stay grounded every day and take off my shoes, walk around the park, stay in the sun, and more. Fewer screens and more nature have been pretty nice. Kris and I were able to visit the Grand Canyon and stay in Flagstaff with my brother Seth and his girlfriend Ale as an example. Epic time!! Now it's off to the Swiss alps and the beaches and beautiful scenery of Iberia. In addition, I have been solely interested in developing my spirituality the last few months by reading some incredible books, staying in my teaching of Higher Self Yoga, and more. This has been a huge part of relaxing and ushering in the energy of this new time we are diving into as a planet. The eclipse is a major shift and factor from yesterday. It's time for the continual awakening of humanity, and I am here to witness. Blessed and grateful each and every day.
Herb of the Month - Dandelion
Benefits: digestive support, detox support, liver support, microbiome support, yin increase, skin support, PMS support
One of the best herbs for the liver. Ironic how it's just an annoying "weed" right?! This herb addresses hot liver stagnation and supports detox overall. There are also high amounts of Vitamin A, B complex, C, iron, potassium, and zinc. It's good in a tea, smoothie, capsules, etc.
Much love to all,
Matt
