Journal

Happy Friday everyone! We had Matt's weekly appointment this afternoon, and we were thrilled to hear his numbers are looking fantastic! Even his liver levels are back within normal range!

Today, we discussed Matt's next round of treatment and found out which group Matt is in for the clinical trial. As it turns out, Matt was randomized into the group that will not be receiving the trial drug. Instead, his group will continue on with the standard course of treatment with the advantage of having a team of the top leukemia doctors from across the country on his "team." While we had hoped he may benefit from the trial drug, we are comforted to know that the standard treatment has great success rates.

Treatment over the next few months will include two four-week long rounds of chemo. This will include infusion chemo as well as a weekly spinal tap (IT) chemo, and transfusions, as Matt's blood counts will drop back down during treatment. We will be driving to Wilmot Cancer Center 4 days a week during this time for outpatient visits to the infusion center, as well as our standard weekly visit with Matt's doctor.

It will be a busy few months for us (with lots of miles on our car), but we are thankful to have such an incredible team of doctors supporting Matt. Everyone at Wilmot has made us feel so comfortable and optimistic for the future.

We were encouraged to get out and do something fun this weekend before Matt starts treatment again. If you have any suggestions on fun things to do, let us know in the comments! 👇
