Marlene’s Story

Site created on August 19, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. On behalf of Marlene, Scott and Bella would like to inform you the time has come to say good-bye. Our wonderful, graceful Marlene, is in hospice and making her transition to the Light. She is surrounded by Love, Joy and Light and will be welcomed with open arms by a crowd of giddy Spirits on the other side.

Most of you know that Marlene was diagnosed with lung cancer five years ago. During this “bonus round,” as she’s called it, she has inspired, uplifted, and blessed the world with her art, poetry, and pure, sweet energy. This has been a time of great surrender and acceptance on her part, which she did with gentle grace and massive courage. She is a shining example of how to live life every day.

We are using CaringBridge to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Bella Spielmann

Family and Friends,

Our dear Marlene passed away on Monday (10/18) at 1:37 AM. Her passing and the moments that followed were serene and filled with her amazingly graceful presence.

Your love and support through your posts, meals, prayers, and beyond has kept us afloat these last few months. Thank you. We invite you to sit Shiva with us this Sunday, October 24th, between 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at Leora's home.

What: Shiva, meaning “seven,” refers to the seven-day period of formalized Judaism mourning. We will reminisce and remember memories of Marlene. Typically visitors bring food but please feel free to come as you are
When: Sunday, October 24th 10:00 – 1:00 PM (you can arrive and leave at anytime during this period)
Where: Leora Frankel’s home. 3685 Conifer Court, Boulder CO 80304. Please enter through the side gate accessed from Linden Ave into the backyard

In the coming weeks, we will share details for a celebration of life. Until then, we want to share a poetry reading Marlene recorded several months ago.  Spirals - a spoken poem by Marlene

Much love,

Scott and Bella
