Journal entry by Ruth Getz

Greetings. This is Ruth
Our extended weekend in Miami was truly a gift. The airlines provided needed accommodations (wheelchairs) for Mark to navigate the expanse of the airports. And, because of a glitch in our hotel reservation, we were upgraded to a spacious VP suite. The panoramic full window view of the ocean was stunning and good for our souls.
With Mark’s low stamina and discomfort, we just stayed on the hotel grounds and enjoyed time and conversation with Leah and Nadab. It is so important for Mark and I to process the grief of this cancer journey with our dear kids.
Mark was literally exhausted when we got back, but has had a few days to reboot. For the rest of this week he has a full schedule of scans, doctor appointments, and another immunotherapy infusion.
Sadly, the cancer has continued to spread. Mark feels more discomfort from new bone tumors. Information will be gained this week as to the extent of the metastasis and treatment options.
As expected, we are overwhelmed with so many emotions yet thankfully in these raging emotions/storm, we have peace.
I feel like I am standing in the group when Moses said, “The Lord will go ahead of you. He will be with you. He will never leave you or desert you. So don’t be afraid. Don’t lose hope.” Deuteronomy 31:8.
And, as I read on in that story of history, God did not fail or forsake the people of Israel, and He has not/will not forsake Mark and our family.
We continue to be humbly grateful for your prayers and loving support. 🙏🏽
