Journal

Hi-
This week is bittersweet now because it my mom’s birthday is June 10th the day I went to the  ER 2 years ago and today is the day I had my colon resection surgery and learned I had colon cancer.

I knew then and I still believe now that all of it was part of God’s plan to save me on my mom’s 90th bday weekend in 2022. Today, 2 years exactly I found out that donor # 3 is a match and it’s full speed ahead to the July 30th liver transplant.

I also learned today that my work at the capitol sharing my story with the house and senate worked and Gov Landry signed the bill into law.
Good news for future Louisiana cancer patients — they will not have to fight for 9 months to get insurance approval like I did. We have to continue pull others up as we are blessed . I will continue to advocate for cancer patients after I’m cured.

I continue to let go and let God lead me in this journey and remain faithful that he has a plan for me.

This is a chemo week for me and so far so good. I don’t feel great but I am not vomiting and that is a victory! My hair is falling out which is odd at this point but I only have 2 more chemo rounds to go.

I’m busy preparing for the liver transplant— getting prepared to be in Nola 4 weeks and also preparing to be away from my work family for 6-8 weeks.  I find myself mostly excited but also a little stressed getting all my checklist done. I think I’m also just shocked that it’s truly happening— that I’m a rare person that meets the criteria to get this transplant.

I remain humbled by all of the prayers and support from family, friends, coworkers and strangers I’m truly blessed.

Thank you for being on this journey with me.

Please continue to pray for:
My donor as she prepares — she is giving me the gift of LIFE. Only a truly remarkable person would do this!
My surgical team as they prepare— they are busy working on my case
For me and my family as we get our plans together for surgery day and the weeks in Nola.
