Journal

Hello dear friends and family,

In the few days since I've posted, Mom's changed quite a bit. She still has her winks, and squeezes your hand with love and connection, but she speaks less, makes less sense when she does, and spends most her time sleeping. She is on a variety of meds, to help with pain, sleeping, anxiety and swelling. She loves a nice, lovely looking tray with something to eat, sips her water, and yesterday was overjoyed with a hot cup of tea in the morning (I've not seen that in a long time!)

Molly is still here from Houston; our dear friend Lili took Molly's children to her farm in Oregon. A wise choice as Mom's care is getting more intense, the nights and days are blending together. Similar to how it was when we were raising babies.

It is an honor to be with my sisters, side by side. We cry, talk, sit with mom, comb her hair, paint her nails, help her bathroom, tuck her in, bring a tray, pray the Psalms, sing a few Irish songs, repeat.

We are so blessed with Hospice, our nurses and team are wonderful. They care, and they have really fallen in love with Mom. I am sure that doesn't surprise you.

Thank you for you love, support, meals, and prayer. They are life-giving.

In going through thousands of photos to distribute to loved ones, I found this one of my mom and dad gazing at their oldest son Matthew. What a reunion that will be.

Team Margie
