Marcella’s Story

Site created on April 2, 2019

Marcella has been on a resilient journey the past 25 years with cancer. She has fought it with surgeries, chemotherapy, a clinical trial - but will mostly say it has been her faith which has kept her going.  She has just begun hospice care this week. We are sharing our posts here to keep family and friends updated on how she's doing daily but also for others to communicate with her. Thank you so much for being here with us.

Journal entry by Greg Freisen

Saturday brought sunny, summer-like conditions to our area serving as a reminder that nicer days are ahead.  With her bedroom windows open to let in a gentle breeze, I’d like to think that the sounds of grandkids playing outside brought back many special (both recent and old) Breezy Point memories for my Mom.

With a palm (dropped off by her grandkids after Saturday evening mass) hung up to her bedroom wall and loving energy from family all around, my Mom’s courageous journey on earth sadly came to an end early Sunday morning.

Memorial Funeral Home (155 South Ave, Fanwood, NJ) will hold wake services on Mon, 4/15 (6-8pm) and Tues, 4/16 (1-4pm and 6-8pm) and a funeral mass will be held on Wed, 4/17 at St. Helen’s Church (1600 Rahway Avenue, Westfield, NJ).  More details will follow for Wednesday’s events.  We look forward to celebrating Mom’s (Marcella’s) life with all of you.
