Journal entry by Nicole Ross

Maeve likes to be interesting. At least that's what all the doctors seem to say to us 😁. She and the dialysis machine have also been clotting quite a bit since our new lines were put in on Monday. The concern is that if we need to have the line for a while as we move towards hemodialysis (intermittent),  her line may progressively get worse. Every time the machine or Maeve clots, we lose some of the progress that has been made in helping reduce the swelling in her stomach (which we need to go down to come off the ventilator) as well as her blood count levels. One of the surgeons from IR, that has done a procedure with us before, will be replacing her lines for a different type that will hopefully work better. We are disappointed that Maeve needs to have another procedure in such a short period of time, but are praying that this will help her in the long run.

She is continuing to wean off of her ventilator. We are making baby steps towards being able to do trials (which would let her breathe on her own). Sometimes it is hard to watch her make progress only for her body to not be quite ready and then we have to increase support again.

Praise: She is still having periods of awake time that show her personality shining through. If Maeve is awake, she has begun waving to people she recognizes as they enter and leave the room. We are also continuing to have uneventful nights which is such a blessing. Daniel and I are still playing catch up on our sleep.

Prayer: Please pray for everything to go smoothly with tomorrow's procedure. We have some nerves about having the lines replaced even though IR is a much more delicate process and should help her heal faster as they do not have to open her up as much. Pray for healing on her body. Though she is not as critical as she was two weeks ago, she is still pretty fragile.
