Today’s the day! Today was the day mom finally got to move back home! Today is the day we start settling into our new normal. They had a little going away party for her complete with cake and ice cream. Needless to say, she was so ready and excited to come home. We did check her suitcases to make sure she wasn’t smuggling her favorite therapists!
Looking back at this journey, it is hard to believe we have come so far. It may have felt like a lifetime, but in the short 7.5 months mom has gone from intubated and on a ventilator to walking around the house without her walker and doing her goofy mom dance. It is truly a miracle. We look back and see how God really did wield His power to bring her back to us.
We know that we could never have done this without ALL OF YOU, even those we never met! All your donations, love, prayers, and kindness have been absolutely incredible! I wish there were words that could express how thankful we are, but anything we come up with feels like it falls short.
Although mom is home, her outpatient therapies will continue to further build her balance, endurance, strength, and cognitive function.
We know that everyone wants to see her and hug her, but we ask that you give her some time to get acclimated to being home. She can still get very overwhelmed and overstimulated. Feel free to contact mom or dad to see when a visit may be possible.
This will be the final post on Caring Bridge. I have waited so long to get to this point; where we have no more to report! We are very proud of mom and all her hard work! As mom always says, “just keep praying.” She is proof that miracles DO happen.
