Journal

Three years. I cannot believe it's been three years since Lisa's diagnosis. When we first found out Lisa had stage IV stomach cancer three years ago, we wouldn't have expected her to be doing this well today.

We are extremely grateful for Lisa's care team. They have been compassionate and forward thinking through this journey so far. They have given us more time together as a family and that's something I will always be thankful for.

2023 was arguably the busiest, most active year of our lives... if you know us, that's saying something! We've been doing our best to live life to the fullest. We traveled to DC, Hawaii, and took family trips to Tennessee and Disney. To think, 3 years ago, Lisa was upset she'd never get the opportunity to take Ben to Betty Brinn Children's Museum... look at us now!

Lisa's last scan after Thanksgiving was stable (which we will take!) Since that time, Lisa has been able to stay off of treatment and has been feeling relatively well. There are still days she doesn't feel right, eats too fast or too much, but she has learned to listen to her body in the past few years about living without a stomach. With those recent scan results, she's able to continue taking a break from treatment until her next scan in late February.

Happy cancerversary, Lisa! Here's to another year closer to moving the 5-year survival rate in the right direction.
