Home.
Think about it, when you go on vacation or out of town, coming home to your own bed, your own shower, your own space just feels good, the smells, the feel of the carpet under your feet. It feels familiar. It feels right.
My mom walked out of her garage on January 2, 2024. You already know what followed. Tears, excitement, more tears, more excitement, more tears, lots and lots of excitement, lots of happy tears, lots of mini wins that were finally achieved.
It's been:
3 months, 2 weeks.
106 days.
2,554 hours.
153,284 minutes
9,197,115 seconds.
But really who's counting? Mom. That's who. She's been awaiting this day for longer than anyone else. Counting the months, the days, the hours, etc.
I'm tearing up but she's home.
SHE IS HOME.
She's back in the good ole' New Berlin. The place that I grew up, the place that she taught me all the things I would need to know when I moved out. Home.
Tonight, when you walk into your own home, ignore the mess, ignore the chaos, let the day go. Just be home.
