Happy Labor Day Weekend!

It's been about 8 weeks since my last post....as 'they say, no news is good news!"

On our way to North Myrtle Beach, we visited Les' brother, Lane.  He recently retired and moved to Wilmington.  Love his new home...almost as much as we love Lane!

We had a great beach trip....sand, sun, surf, books, cornhole, sleep...then start over the next day with more of the same.   😎     Drew was with us about 9 days and his time overlapped with Lara's two weeks.  My brother visited for about 4 days. We had time at the front and the back of our month just we two.  It doesn't matter how long we are at the beach, it's never long enough.  I've posted a couple pictures of Les at the beach....just a typical day!

Les and I returned on August 12...he flew and arrived about noon and I drove and arrived about 4p.

August 13 he had neurology appointment.  Doctor T was happy with his continued improvement.  He shared that Les is 85-90% to his pre accident Les.  Les wanted to return to work but Dr. T. said he'd prefer end of October before he returns to work.  That would be a six month recovery.  Les shared that he wanted to return to work August 14!  After some discussion, Dr. T agreed that Les could return to work every other day for four hours....as long as Les follows the rules.  He also told him he could drive an hour with no night driving. These driving rules apply until further notice.  Les continues to go to PT.  He has not been released to run.  Dr. T said he can walk briskly but no running yet.

August 14 Les returned to work PT.  His bed time goal is 10p....but he still continues to have difficult time getting to sleep and then has restless nights.  His sleep is better than before the beach, but is still not back to a good night's sleep like he had prior to accident.  On Wednesday, he left home at 4:30a to begin work at 5:30a and was home about 10:30a.  He rested the remainder of the afternoon and most of August 15.  He continues to work every other day PT.

August 15....I returned to school.  I will be teaching two classes every other day.  Students arrived August 26 so we are both back to work.  When can we go to the beach again??  lol

Since we returned, he's gone to horseshoes twice and played cornhole in the backyard.  He began Monday night bowling August 26 and is hopeful for a winning season.

He's looking forward to returning to the CHS pressbox to begin his 30th season announcing Charger football.  Their first games are away and he'll be in the box on September 13 for the Chargers home opener.

Les returns to ophthalmologist September 30 for another check of his optic disk nerve.  We are optimistic he will be released from ophthalmology so then he only needs to go for regular eye check up.

Thank you for your patience while we were away and posts were not made.  Les is doing well, continuing to improve each day.  He's come a LONG way, and still has a bit to go to return to our Les.  However, we realize daily how BLESSED we are that he is still with us and has the ability to continue to improve.

We are grateful for you~for your caring thoughts, continued prayers, and well wishes!  It takes a village to help one heal.

Til next time....Happy fall!
