Journal entry by Leslee Smith —
This is Doug, Leslee's husband of 43 1/2 years. Leslee's journey with ALS ended last night, December 1 at 11:55 p.m. at home in the company of me, our 3 sons, Corey, Peter and Charles and her wonderful cousin Beth Hughes. She remained a "good and faithful servant" throughout this year long ordeal, keeping her faith and continuing to put the needs of others before her own. Leslee was wonderfully gifted and talented in many ways and was always willing to humbly share that with others. We will miss her terribly. But I am grateful, for us both, that her journey with this horrible affliction was relatively brief. Frankly, there were times it seemed it would never end. Often, I was not the best care giver. And she would remind me that this would not be forever. Looking back, it seems to me that this past year is something for which God was preparing her in many ways throughout her adult life. She is now with her heavenly Father and I am confident that her crown is one filled with many jewels!
