Lennix’s Story

Site created on December 25, 2023

On December 21, 2023, Lennix went in for her one year check-up.  During the exam, her doctor noticed a hard spot on her abdomen and wanted to check it out further.  An ultrasound discovered that she had a larger tumor on/in her kidney that will need to be removed.  A CT scan has shown that her lungs have multiple lesions on them.  All signs point to cancer, specifically a Wilms tumor.

Lennix goes in for surgery the afternoon of December 26th to have the tumor and kidney removed.  The surgeon will also place a chemotherapy port in her so she can start chemotherapy as soon as the surgical wound is healed.

Journal entry by Jill Dacy

Lennix was able to have her chest tube pulled early Saturday morning.  She continued to do well and slept quite a bit that morning. The surgery team was happy with her progress and she was discharged Saturday afternoon.

Saturday evening, she felt pretty warm.  We checked her temperature and she definitely had a fever.  So, back to the hospital she went.  She ended up needing some blood and they gave her an antibiotic.

The surgery team did another x-ray and all still looked well so after another dose of antibiotic, she was sent home Sunday afternoon.

She does seem extra tired but overall has tolerated the procedure well.  Now we wait for the results…
