Larry’s Story

Site created on July 22, 2018

First, a brief introduction is in order. I am Larry's niece, Bonnie; my mother was his twin sister Janet. My brothers (Dan and Steve) and I have set up this Caring Bridge site to keep family and friends updated on our uncle's health condition in one place.  Several years ago, Larry was diagnosed with a form of blood cancer called myelofibrosis.  He was asymptomatic and for most of those years it did not hamper his daily life. Larry has also been diagnosed with aortic stenosis, which further complicates his overall medical condition. Lately, he has weakened substantially and his hematologist indicated that the myelofibrosis is in its end stages; she advised beginning hospice care, which he has.

I want to assure you that Larry is not in any pain or discomfort and that he is at peace with his situation. He has told us on many occasions that he has had a great life, filled with wonderful people, and just wants to live out his days peacefully. We are doing everything we can to ensure that happens. He is at home, where he wants to be, with wonderful caregivers. He would welcome notes on this site, but at this point he does not have the energy to write replies here or via email.

We will update this site regularly and hope you will understand that this is the best way to get updates.  You can be sure that we all appreciate your support, even if we aren't able to respond to you individually.
