Welcome to Kristen’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportWe are back from Seattle after a day of appointments at the UW Medical Center.
Kristen had her sutures removed and is now on fewer restrictions. We are successfully ramping down her steroids based on a plan from the neuro-oncology and endocrinology teams. She has very little pain, with only mild headaches that are manageable with Tylenol.
During that visit, Kristen had an ultrasound that identified some blood clots in her legs. She is now back on the blood thinners she was taking before surgery and we are monitoring the situation to ensure it remains stable.
We continue to look into clinical trials, although it looks like there are not any good options at this time. Kristen is on the waiting list for one study, but others require some amount of measurable tumor as qualifying criteria. Apparently her surgery was "too good" for her to be eligible, but we are not going to complain at all about that!
In lieu of a trial, there are two or three chemotherapy options Kristen can choose from, in addition to the Optune option. We should have a course of action solidified in the next week or so.
