Kimberly’s Story

Site created on December 17, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Hi Everyone!  As most of you know, on January 16th I am undergoing major neck and spine surgery. My injury is the result of 30 years in the hair industry. Despite my injury, I love my craft and all the wonderful and amazing people that have been in my life because of it.
I will return to LaTour in March.
Everyday, (starting Jan15th)  my daughter, my mother, or some family member or friend will post an update of my surgery and recovery. I plan on coming back pain free and better than ever!
Thank you all for your concern, support and prayers.

Journal entry by Kimberly Gotelli

Cutting my moms hair yesterday went fairly well.
I experienced some fatigue later but I think it was partly due to my brilliant idea of walking to her house to do her haircut ( which was an hour walk).

You see, my recovery has involved a lot of sleeping, laying around and of course eating. So, in order to not be a display in the circus as the fattest lady in the world, I walk..... and walk.
As most of you know, I'm a gym rat. This surgery has prevented me from stepping foot in the gym or doing anything that involves my upper body. Walking has been good therapy for me both mentally and physically.

I know what you are all thinking about me right now.
You are saying to yourself, " wow she's not the most patient person is she?". Well, you would be right! LOL. Especially when it comes to myself!

I want to be done with this. I want to be able to do everything I did before. I don't want anymore pain. I don't want to be so limited any longer.
I want this to be over and I know it will be in time.

No doubt these are statements said by everyone who has had long term illness, surgery, chronic pain, injury, etc...

Circling back to my moms haircut. I did it. I can do it, just in limited quantities.
Going back to work on Tuesday part time should be fine.
I look forward to seeing all of you. You are part of my resuming " life as usual."
Thank you for that!
