Welcome to Kim’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportThree and a half months is probably too long since our last update, but here we are. Kim has had a few positive milestones along the journey, which makes the long slog of chemo seem worth it. There have also been a couple bits of less than exciting news that seem to be just part and parcel with the extremity of chemotherapy and radiation (pulmonary embolism). In all of it, we've continued to find immense support, love and care from our community. For now, Kim is progressing through the latest rounds of chemotherapy with an eye towards a scan in June that should give us strong indicators of how the treatment has been working.
One of the weird things about this whole situation is watching our kids grow up despite our grown-up lives seemingly having this weird pause button pressed down. They continue to broaden their grasp of the world without really understanding what their mom is going through (at least outwardly). Em, while sweet and clingy and hilarious, is also pushing back on almost every single thing we say and his ears seemed to have clogged up making listening to us almost impossible. Ev is dutifully learning from her big brother and continues to make people ask "How old did you say she was?"
I say this not to brag about our kids, but to remind myself and all you faithful readers about the miraculous strength Kim continues to demonstrate day in and day out. It really is one of the most inspiring things I've witnessed in my life. But she can't do everything all the time and with my work schedule, dinner is one of the harder things to make happen. We've decided we'd like to open our meal train up again for a couple nights a week. If you could help in any way, we'd greatly appreciate it (link can be found in the "Ways to help" tab at the top of our page.
