Kevin’s Story

Site created on January 23, 2024

Hey everybody!! Its me. Just to bring you up to date, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Gastro-Esophageal Cancer in December. Bummer, right?! The tumor is approximately 3 inches in size and  wraps around my lower esophagus and along the side of my stomach. But, its all good! After LOTS of tests and a couple procedures the doctors say its regional. And, assuming everything goes well, curable. I started treatments January 15th. The treatments consist of Chemotherapy, Immunotherapy, and Targeted Therapy. The plan is to shrink the tumor enough for a surgeon to remove it. I'm currently working with 3 great cancer teams. One, at our cancer center here in St. Cloud, MN. The second, The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Third and most importantly, my friends and family. With that being said, I'm bringing the biggest damn army I could find to kick this bastards ass!!! So please don't worry, WE GOT THIS!!!!

Hi Everyone,

Ok. I know that my last post was far to long ago and I apologize for that. My #7 treatment really hit me hard. It was definitely the worst one yet. I even ended up in the ER one day to get some of the side effects back under control. Some got away from me for a bit. But enough of that talk. Lets get to the good stuff.

Today I finished my 8th and final treatment. Whoooo-Hoooo!!!! I got to ring my bell and it felt great! Even got an audience and an applause!  So happy those are done. (Or, as far as I know for now.) Just gotta get through this round of stuff and then smooth sailing until the next stage. I get my scans done in two weeks at the Mayo Clinic. Hopefully they look good. When I was in the ER last week I had a CT scan done and the preliminary looks very promising! Just need confirmation from the Mayo. I have a lot of appts. over the course of 3 days. I'll be seeing different Drs. including a surgeon and a radiologist. I'm also having a full spectrum of imaging and test. All to determine the next step. We'll see what that is.

Things got a bit dark the last couple weeks, but I can see the light coming up on the horizon and its beautiful!! I love you all and I'll chat soon!!
