Ken’s Story

Site created on January 24, 2024

Ken was in a car accident on January 12th and suffered a spinal cord injury. He has a long road of recovery ahead of him and we will use this page to keep people updated along the way. Our family has been so blessed by the outpouring of support and prayer during this season. Thank you!

Journal entry by Amy Peckham

Ken has had another great week at Mary Free Bed. He continues to improve daily! We thank God each day for his progress. He has not had any new significant movements this week, but he has been gaining more strength behind his movements, especially in his legs and core. He has also been working on his hand movements to make them more purposeful!

We received an exciting answer to prayers this week! Ken's doctor decided that he has made enough progress to stay at Mary Free Bed for an additional 2 weeks, pushing his discharge date back to May 15th! We rejoice over this change of plans and are so thankful for the additional therapy he will receive in those 2 weeks.

After the 15th, Ken will still move to The Cottages, as they are willing to hold his place! We have seen God's hand in the preparations for Ken's move. He will be able to come to Mary Free Bed twice a week for therapy and then his therapists will come up to the cottages the other three days. They will also be able to get specialized equipment for him to use for his therapy up at the cottages as well!

God has been so good! We are so thankful for the way he continues to answer our prayers and bring more healing and strength to Ken. We continue to trust him in this journey!
