Today I am grateful for my sister Michelle, Sandy and Gary Barker, The Gold Rush Cure Foundation, Deborah Green and ALL of you!
This has been a long week.
My dear friend Deborah treated me for my birthday to a week in Cabo. A day after landing in Mexico my sister, Michelle (aka - Shelly) called from Florida, informing me my precious mom had several strokes. Shelly acting quickly, called 911 and I believe saved my mother’s life. I will be heading out early next week.
Good news is when I spoke to my spicy mama, she told me; “I’m hungry and want some scrambled eggs and my roommate is loud and talks too much!” I took that as a great sign. Hopefully with a little rehab and a LOT of prayer, we can get her up and running again. It will be a long road - blood pressure is through the roof, she’s unable to sit up yet or walk and swallowing her food has been a challenge! 🙏 But if anyone can rebound, it will be my mom.
Prior to hearing she was in the hospital I made a silly YouTube video to give you yet another visual on how you giving 5 dollars can have a tremendous ripple effect!
Someone asked if they give direct to Gold Rush Cure Foundation can they use it as a write off… the answer is ABSOLUTELY! This is our last Friday to give to this incredible organization. So if you have been considering it, don’t put it off any longer.
Below is my Venmo and the link to GRCF.
Let’s have some fun! A FIVE dollar gift can make a huge impact.
I have to share a sweet God story. When I got the news regarding my mother, my heart sunk. Here I am 1000’s of miles away in another country. Shelly assured me she had it under control and to stay put until next week. Obviously I had mixed emotions! Walking the beach a small dog followed me, dropped a feather at my feet and then trotted back to his owner. The very next morning in Psalm 91:4 I read;
“He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge His faithfulness will shield you and rampart.”
Of course when you hear feathers, you think of birds. I envisioned an eagle wrapping their arms around their young. Within the safety of the wings, the young is sheltered from storms and predators. I envisioned Jesus’s arms of protection not only wrapped around me to bring peace - but surrounding my mom. I had to smile at His kindness to bring this message in the middle of my turmoil.
Occasionally, I reread what I wrote and think, ‘what must the reader think about my stories’ - maybe it was a stretch… but how many of you have ever had a dog (a stranger’s dog) drop a feather at your feet. It HAD to be a gift from heaven.
I appreciate you all and know it goes without saying to keep my mom and my brother’s wife Lisa (who continues to fight cancer), in your prayers.
I love you.
JESUS loves you…
