It is with a heart full of joy and in thanksgiving to God that our family is happy to announce our prayers have been answered. Mom’s stem cell transplant, which took place on June 21 at Mt. Sinai Hospital, was a success. It is official, Mom has been declared in remission.

After a three week hospital stay, Mom and Dad have returned home to Gloucester.  As she recovers at home, our family continues to come together as a team to provide her care as she is very weak from the transplant and the residual effects of chemo therapy. We ask your continued prayers that her immune system and strength will soon be fully restored.

Despite the huge obstacle cancer put in our family’s path, we feel so very blessed. The outpouring of love and and support we have been shown has brought us immeasurable comfort, as has every one of your prayers. Each has given us peace, determination, hope and strength. Thank you.

It is a relief and blessing to share this wonderful news but because Multiple Myeloma is considered an incurable cancer, even in remission, we know Mom’s fight must continue.  Stem cell transplant #2 is pending this fall and we will learn in a few weeks whether Mom will be required to undergo this second procedure.  We hope this will not be the case but as we approach this uncertain road, we earnestly ask that you join us in praying with faith because as we have already so graciously experienced, this is when the most amazing things happen!
