Hey Everyone,
Quickie update on the scan results:
Mike and I got back a little while ago from my follow up appointment with my oncologist. The scan results were not good news. There is an increase in tumors (size and number) in my lungs and the pleural effusion on my right side, which was seen in my last scan, has grown to the point that it is causing things on my left to be shifted over some. She also said in the report there was noted a possible blood clot in my groin area. She wants me to have the effusion drained, called a thoracentesis, as soon as possible (this week) so we are waiting for a call from the hospital to schedule that. It will be an outpatient procedure. The evening of the day I get the drain done she wants me to start the blood thinner Eliquis. Since the hormone injection treatment I've been on is not working she wants to stop that and begin a different kind of treatment called an antibody drug conjugate. The specific medicine she is recommending is called Enhertu. It will be an infusion that I get once every three weeks starting next week. It sounds like the side effects of that are tolerable thankfully. She also said once I get the effusion drained I should start feeling better and have less coughing (which has been really bothersome) and be able to breathe better.
Thank you for your continued prayers and encouragement. Mike and I were able to go up to Tulsa and Springfield for a long Mother's Day weekend which was good medicine.
