I feel like we have some extra special something in our corner today; so far it’s been a lot of things going right 🥳.
Justin and I hadn’t actually said it out loud, but I know both of us have been holding our breath since his last treatment, just hoping and praying that his platelet count would be high enough to not delay this week’s treatment. The threshold for doing treatment is 75. He was at 83 last time, and had dropped from the low 100s the previous treatment, so we were definitely not going in the right direction.
I’m happy to report his platelets are champs and rose to the occasion, coming in at 105 today!!! We don’t know why they went down and then back up, but we’re happy they did. His neutrophils have dropped so that’s the next thing to keep an eye on… it’s always something 🤨.
The cancer center was BUSY this morning. It’s always busy on Tuesdays, but there were extra people too since yesterday was a holiday. When we got to the chemo office, we heard them tell another patient that he was getting the last chair because they were so full. We were curious what that meant for us. They called Justin a couple minutes later and told us they were out of chairs so he was getting a room! With an actual bed and a door we could partially close. He didn’t get much sleep before going to work last night and was exhausted when he got home this morning. He normally tries to sleep some during the infusion, but it isn’t always easy because there’s a lot of activity and noises in the infusion area. So having a bed to lie in and quietness was a godsend. He’s currently sleeping comfortably and peacefully, almost through the infusion.
Our medical appointment today was with the ARNP. We hadn’t seen her since his episode during his treatment the time before last. She was very surprised his last treatment went off with no issues. And he’s almost through this one and no complications again! Hopefully it was a one time thing and all goes according to plan for the remaining treatments. 🤞🏼
Photos of all kinds of recent fun.
