Hello everyone!
Frankly, I can’t quite believe another quarter has gone by and I had another scan which showed the cancer is behaving and not spreading.  Yay!

I have been working on getting more energy by taking exercise classes 4x a week and I feel a lot better.  One combines balance and cardio, and let’s just say that the leg that doesn’t feel/move very well continues to provide me with a lot of challenges with balance.

My doctor continues to be happy with my health.  Although as a side effect of the immunotherapy I do have sarcoidosis, which means some swelling in my lymph glads and in my lungs.  It’s a known side effect of the drug.  So they laid off treatment for two months to let my body recover, and I was back on treatment last month.  I go again this Tuesday.

The clinical trial doctor also referred me to their media department, and they did an article about me in their cancer newsletter. I’ll try to post the link below.  Additionally, their video team came over to the house last week and filmed an interview and footage of me talking about cancer, the clinical trial and the success we’re having.  The purpose of all of this was to try and get more people to accept clinical trials, because it’s truly the only way to advance research.  As altruistic as that sounds, I didn’t do it for that reason, I did it because I was going to die and it was either keep working on funeral arrangements or try the clinical trial on top of the “normal” chemotherapy.

So eventually they will send all the footage, some still photos and information out to news channels so they can make their own stories, or opt to have their own crews come and talk to me.  It may eventually end up on the news here and elsewhere.

In other news….My Mom turned 95 in April and the family got together for a birthday weekend, Immediately after this we took off for Kentucky and Tennessee to pick up some somewhat rare bourbon to donate for raffles for nonprofit orgs we belong to.  We also stopped and saw Katy’s family south of Nashville.

Given that I’m feeling great, Katy’s other knee suddenly needed replacement as pain came on fast and hard!  Fortunately the surgeon had a cancelation, and we had 6 days to prepare for her knee replacement surgery.  That is coming on Wednesday.  Actually it’s great, because it’s early enough she’ll still be able to enjoy a lot of the summer.

That’s it from here!  I’ll write again in four months after another scan!

Thanks again for all of your support and care.  It means a lot.
