Newest Update

Journal entry by Susan Stein

Jon had his fourth chemo treatment on Tuesday, and it went smoothly. It is a pleasure getting the treatments close to home, and we had a good video visit with the doctor, who was very pleased with his blood counts and optimistic in general. He scheduled a CT scan for June 6, which is about 10 days after the last chemo appt. We assume that a decision about (Whipple) surgery will be made around that time. But not really sure.
We met friends for dinner that night at an outdoor restaurant and had a lovely evening. But the next morning and this morning were not so much fun. Lots of nausea followed by exhaustion. Apparently the nausea can show up now, even though he hasn’t had too much of it before. He recovers, but the anti nausea medicine knocks him out for the rest of the day. However, being tired is way better than being sick. So we will take exhaustion. Until this new chemo side effect, we had been socializing daily outdoors with friends and relatively busy with “normal” life. We look forward to resuming those activities. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.
We are still enjoying wonderful food brought by friends and have certified the best Thai Tom Kha soup in San Diego. Really delicious and only a couple blocks away. (Thai Time on Broadway Circle)
It has been wonderful to hear from old friends and to have the support of so many people, near and far. Thanks to all of you.
