John found a qualified OD in Portland, Maine and had them order a custom Aphakic contact lens. Joanne & John went to the Portland office on March 1st for him to get fitted for the lens. The results in the office were not great, but John took the lens home with him to try it out for a two week or longer period. It became apparent that the contact lens would not improve his vision in the injured left eye to much more than 20/200. This was pretty much confirmed at an appointment on April 22nd at Mass Eye and Ear in Stoneham, MA with another doctor who is a retina specialist. John has accepted the fact that there will be no improvement in vision in his left eye and has been basically adjusting to that reality over the past year or so. John can drive in daylight hours, hike the White Mountains, ride his bicycle, and do most of what he did before the skiing accident in January 2023. John is basically a happy person with a good attitude, living in Meredith, NH close to our grandson. John is very grateful for all your concern and prayers. This will be the last update on this journey. God Bless.
