I got a text from Angie with an update on John. John moved in with Angie and Nolan on 3/6. As it turns out it was a blessing since the whole COVID-19 thing started to explode soon after that.
They are really happy to have John living with them and John is really happy being there. They completed moving John out of his Circle Pines house last week and got some new yard art out of the deal: a fire hydrant and a cannon ball. God only knows where and why John got them, but they will be treasured pieces of landscaping at Angie an Nolan's. John has been going on walks around the neighborhood (both with and without someone with him) and to no one's surprise has enjoyed helping with yard work.
Because of the COVID-19 John's therapy sessions have been cancelled. John understands why we can't go to the hospital for therapy anymore. Angie and Nolan have been doing exercises with him and playing music alot so he can hum along. He is understanding verbal language better but he may never be able to speak effectively again. Angie has been calling John's friends and I have actually tried something I vowed I would never do. Its a snap chat type app for old people called Marco Polo. You basically send video snippets back and forth. I "Polo'd" with John a couple of times this week. He and Tom went and saw Bob Wier and the Wolf Brothers at the Fillmore in early March and he was proudly sporting the t-shirt the first time we polo'd. The second time we polo'd he was sporting a tie-dye and 10 stitches on his nose. Apparently John was on a balance board and lets just say his dismount was less than graceful. Keep the 'Rock' in your prayers.
