John’s Story

Site created on August 27, 2013

Welcome to my Caring Bridge site.  I had hoped never to utilize this site again, but earlier this week I received the news that I have metastatic lung cancer and that my condition  is terminal.  My medical  team is working now to come up with a plan to extend my life beyond the 2-3 months I have to live.  That plan will include radiation, chemotherapy and immunotherapy.  If the plan works, I possibly will live another year and a half perhaps more, perhaps less.  So again I take to this journal, a site I began nearly ten years ago as I first began my journey with cancer, and now it will end as I head toward the "final frontier".  I am trying not to be afraid, and writing has always helped me face reality, hence my return to these pages.  I will be as honest as I can be and of course, I can pretty much guarantee bad poetry, irreverence, and occasional pearls of wisdom, as well as fears and hopes and dreams.  I will need your love, support, prayers, and advice as this final chapter of my cancer journey unfolds.  Peace and Love!
