Our beloved husband, father, brother, friend and colleague Joe passed away this afternoon. We are all so proud of his bravery and courage as he fought for health the past months. He desperately loved living and did everything he could to bring goodness and fun to others in his life. He was sanctified by our faith's sacraments and blessed by the unceasing prayers and support of so many of you.
As his family stood by him today to thank him and tell him how much they loved him, I was struck by something that son Dan read, when he reminded Joe (and others in the room) of the message that Joe sent Dan when he started college:
Dad's Rules To Live By
-
-
-
- Work hard.
- Have fun.
- Maintain your integrity.
- Think before you act; there are always consequences for your actions.
- It's not all about you; do something every day for someone else.
- Do something every day to improve yourself as a person.
- Set some goals.
- Assess whether you are achieving your goals.
- Pray.
- Guard your reputation as if your life depended on it.
- Let the important people in your life know that you appreciate them.
Joe not only suggested those rules for his son; Joe lived them. We were blessed to have Joe in our lives!
Thank you for your love and care for Joe and for those who loved him so much. We will miss him desperately but know he will be with us in our hearts forever, until we meet again.
