Journal entry by Amy Wicke

My dad is doing much better. He was able to get the breathing tube out yesterday and is now breathing mostly on his own. He is much more awake and aware of his surroundings. Grateful for two of his grandchildren who came to visit over the last few days. Hopefully today he will be able to eat some apples sauce so that the nutrition tube can be taken out. He might even get out of ICU. Making good progress as we will have to figure out next steps.

I had my blood drawn again this week. Again it came back low. We are just beating our heads against the wall in frustration. Yesterday we meet with the local oncology doctor who looked back at the blood from 7 years ago. It looks like my counts were low then even before chemo. He thinks it is just the make up of my blood and mostly likely won’t get up naturally as we have been waiting on. He has messaged the doctors at MD and given them this info. Hoping this will allow us to move forward one way or another.  Currently surgery is scheduled for May 11th.

Thank you all for prayers and support.
