Sign In to Show Your SupportHey everyone. I'm so sorry for the very late update! 🫣
JJ's blood counts had initially dropped when he was first admitted, so I was mentally preparing myself for a long stay. But on Monday and then again on Tuesday his WBC was trending upward so, even though he had not reached the threshold, they were willing to discharge him with a follow-up in clinic. We made it home around lunchtime on Tuesday (April 30). 🎉 Thank you all for your prayers!
Today, JJ had his follow-up appointment in clinic, and it went very smoothly. My friend Emily kept the younger three kids for the afternoon and JJ's friend Judah came with us to clinic, which JJ loved. This visit was pretty easy with a quick port access for labs and then de-accessed right away, and then the boys played with Legos and watched a show while we waited for the doctor to stop by.
The labs took longer than usual, so we left after the doctor stopped by without clarity about whether to restart his meds. His numbers came back while we are the way home, and they jumped a lot in the last week. Again praise God. 🙏🏼❤️🎉 The office will give us a call tomorrow, but we are expecting that he will restart his at-home medicines but at a lower dose.
Thank you all for your prayers and support for our family as we continue to walk through this. We are so very thankful for you.
