Journal entry by Joseph Miller —
Here we are, a fortnight later, only this time it's actually good news!
This week's visit was just a count check, which thankfully is fairly routine for JJ at this point. He requested Elizabeth come with him again, hence the nearly identical picture from the last visit (I promise, it is a new photo). Surprisingly, his numbers were right where they needed to be. We (I) was thinking they would be low, just based on previous dosing levels, but his ANC was at 1500 and his platelets were 136, which his doctor was thrilled with.
Thankfully, that means this update is fairly boring. No changes to medicine, no extra tests, no transfusions, no extra pills, and at least for the next few weeks, he's down to just four prescriptions (2 daily, 1 weekend, 1 weekly).
The next update will most likely be more than two weeks away. In case you haven't heard, there will be a solar eclipse on April 8. JJ was scheduled to have IV chemo and a lumbar puncture on April 9, but the beauty of this phase of treatment is there's plenty of wiggle room on scheduling, so his doctors shifted it back a week. (This also means the grandparents don't have to deal with the side effects of steroids and extra chemo while we're halfway across the country, which is a win.)
Here's to another few weeks fever-free with no ER visits!
