Newest Update

Journal entry by Alison Bodsberg

Good Evening,

Here is Jeff’s update for this week.

“"Big Week"

We welcomed Nova Rae, our first Grandchild/Granddaughter to the world on Tuesday!
Nova was born at Children's Hospital in St. Paul, so it was only about a 10 minute drive from the apartment for us to go visit.
Mayah, Aaron and Nova are all doing well and were able to come back to their home on Friday afternoon.
Seeing and holding Nova for the first time was one of the most emotional moments for us.
We are so excited for Aaron and Mayah and look forward to being a part of some of the wonderful moments a child and grandchild bring to a family.

We made it back to the farm again this weekend.  Paul and Derrick were just finishing up getting the new ductwork, furnace and air filtration system operational when we got there Friday afternoon.  So the house was nice and cozy and is getting a step closer to being a safer, healthier place to return home to in the future.

We had lots of visitors this weekend.  Our neighbors Larry and Viv stopped in for bit to say hello.   Jerry and Noel stopped in later for a visit Saturday morning.  Was good to see them!   Aaron, Mayah and Nova came over and spent Saturday afternoon with us.  Rocky and Alison got to meet Nova Saturday night.  And Sunday, Debbie, Cierra, Trevor and Michelle visited.  We told stories and laughed for two hours straight!  And I absolutely mow'd down two helpings of this pineapple angel food dessert that Debbie made.

Shout out to our Bernard's Northtown family in New Richmond!   Trish took our vehicle in for an overdue oil change on Saturday morning.  Let me just say that our Bernard's Northtown family is awesome, they take care of people, and always have!  We are humbled by their generosity and how much they care!

"Medical Update"
The nurses come to the apartment and change my wound vac and dressing every  M-W-F.  The chest incision wound is healing as expected.  But it is a slow, long and arduous process.  But for now, progress each week is great news.  They have not scheduled another debridement surgery yet, but I'm thinking they probably will in the next week or two to be sure it stays clean, healthy and healing as best it can.

I had an appetite this weekend and was able to eat a little more and a little more often than I have in some time.  I'll be working my way back to 150lbs soon if we can keep this up!

There were some smaller adjustments made to my IV antibiotics this week.  And we are hoping that we can maybe be done with a couple of them this upcoming week.  We will see as I've got a full day in clinic on Tuesday.  I'm hesitant to say it feels like we are finding a predictable groove and pattern.  But it feels like we are trending in that direction more and more each week.

"Reflection"
This is direct from Kysa's comment on last week's update which was profound with wisdom.
"Life will break your heart.  Life may take everything you have and everything you've hoped for."
"But there is one gratifying truth I believe in"
"I believe that in the darkness, even there"
"There will be beauty"
"And there will be Love"
"And every now and then, it will feel more than enough".

"A new perspective on life and the truly meaningful stuff"

Love you Kysa!”
