It's official...We have officially started maintenance as of last Tuesday.

Jayce's numbers were great, he got his LP and his spinal chemo, his vincristine chemo, and our calendar and we were on our way. It was so fast, and now we don't go back for a month. A whole month of no clinic. I don't know how I feel about that. Maybe we will have to stop in and pretend we need something. It's been a year we have been with these people, seeing them two to three times a week, and just like that, once a month. I'm sure it will get easier as the days tick on but it's weird the clinic turns into your second family and you forget that one day it will be done. But that's been the goal all along and you don't have time to think about "breaking up" with your family until it's time, so on top of everything else, you have to deal with that as well. I know they are one call away at all times, but this is just the start of what is going to be different going forward.

Jayce has been feeling decent. He has been out and about doing things, like fun things!! We golfed last week, and he walked and golfed the whole course. That is such a huge deal. He went to the movies with his grandparents and his uncle. He came to a cookout. He has been playing badminton, walking, throwing balls, playing the Wii for exercise and just being himself! Each day a little more of himself comes out.

Saturday was the last day of his five-day steroids. This child went from barely eating for 8 weeks to nonstop eating and keeping it down. Now that the steroids are over, he doesn't feel a hundred percent, but anything is better than where we were.

Today is my birthday, and waking up knowing I don't feel the way I did last year on my birthday was all I needed. As soon as I opened my front door this morning there was the brightest cardinal sitting right in the tree staring in. I know it was my dad. Between that and Jayce being okay and spending the day with me and my older boys making sure they were the first to call and text last night at midnight, I don't need anything else today.

I hope everyone has a great week!!

Love, the Palmers
